January of 2018 is done with. It honestly flew by, but isn’t that what people say about all the months? We get older and we more frequently notice time in fast-forward. I’m once again left wondering where January went and what happened.
Like waking up suddenly and being confused about your location, the time, the why.
I’m not really sure why I’m writing this post, honestly. I’m sitting here thinking, “What the hell did I even do in January?” Was anything noteworthy? Or did I simply… drift.
I am convinced that I was actually sleeping all through the month. I have zero noteworthy recollections. Yet, somehow, my frame of mind is much healthier than it was in December.
We won’t discuss December here. Let’s move on.
I’m a couple of days late. Behind the times, you know? Not up-to-date with the trends. It’s fine.
Jan. Happening #1
In my pondering, I remembered the obvious January happening: I started this blog! And while that may not seem like much, it has improved my mental health quite a lot.
Sure, my follower count is not significant. But I didn’t start this blog to amass followers. I started this blog to have fun and rekindle a lost passion.
And so far, I think it’s working out! I’m still having fun posting random things irregularly. And I no longer want to stay under my bed sheets for the rest of my life. That’s a plus in my book!
Jan. Happening #2
This one is silly.
I started a cat Instagram. For my cats. Of my cats. By my cats.
Cats. Say cats again.
No, but really, it’s been a lot of fun practicing my very, very limited photography skills with an old Nikon D70 and trying to capture any of my three cats in a humorous position. They’re very photogenic.
Is it unbecoming to shamelessly plug my Instagram page? Do I care about what’s unbecoming? (Long answer: No. Also, who says “unbecoming”? Am I actually a grandma? That’s cool.)
Cats, man. They’re great. Go ahead and check it out if you like cats. Or if you don’t. Or don’t check it out. Live your life, girl.
Jan. Happening #3
I pulled myself up, put on my big boy trousers, and worked on some stuff for my impending wedding. Please don’t tell my fiance I described our wedding with the bad connotation of “impending.” I really do love him a lot.
We’re getting married in May, and the planning has been… well, neither of us like the planning. It’s fine.
But this month I rented out some of the necessary things, put together some centerpieces, and bought some boutonnieres. The cute stuff, you know? And it wasn’t eye-scratchingly terrible!
I’ll probably write a reflection post about my thoughts on marriage at some point.

That’s all I can think of. I know this post is going to be short, but I’ve come this far and I’m not scrapping it. Short and sweet, am I right?
Other little things happened in January, but I don’t have much to say on those. A few TV shows came back. There are some games and movies that I’m excited about. I’ll cover those at a later date.
January was lighthearted. There were some unseasonably warm days that melted the snow and lifted my spirits. Those days made me hopeful for spring, however far off it might seem. Being hopeful is a great feeling.
I’ve got a few personal goals and projects to work on during February. I’m excited to see how this month pans out.
How was your January? Are you tired of winter? Did you do anything meaningful to you? I’d like to hear about it!
